Andrew Mitchell MP encourages local residents to visit Sutton Arts Theatre Open Day

13 July 2010

Andrew Mitchell MP is encouraging local residents to attend the Sutton Arts Theatre Open Day this Saturday, 17 July 2010.

Mr Mitchell will open the event at 10.30am outside the theatre which is situated on South Parade in Sutton’s town centre.

The open day aims to raise awareness of the theatre and offers people an insight into how it is maintained and run.

The theatre’s pantomime dame and fairy will be on hand to greet visitors as well as members of the Front of House Team who will conduct backstage tours of the theatre.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to view an array of costumes, props and archives on display as well as enjoy a series of live music, monologues and readings.

Coffees and cream teas will be available throughout the event, which closes at 3pm.

The theatre is holding the Open Day to raise awareness and encourage local residents to go to its many productions or to join as members.

Andrew Mitchell MP said, "I do hope that many of Sutton's residents will join me at the Sutton Arts Theatre on Saturday - it is set to be a most enjoyable day and an excellent chance to see backstage at one of Sutton's magnificent gems!"
