Andrew Mitchell MP visits Hollyfield Primary School as part of the school’s ‘Community Cohesion’ project

06 July 2010

Andrew Mitchell MP has visited pupils at Hollyfield Primary School, Sutton Coldfield to speak at their assembly and talk about his role as their Member of Parliament.

The school’s Headteacher, Miss Catherine Edwards had asked Mr Mitchell to return to the school to talk to the children about the recent General Election as well as the UK voting system as part of the school’s 'Community Cohesion' remit.

After speaking to the children Mr Mitchell took questions from the pupils, covering a range of topics including if he had ever visited Big Ben and whether he’d met anyone famous.  The children were delighted to hear about Andrew’s trip to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen after his appointment to the Privy Council.

Mr Mitchell said, “It was a real pleasure to visit staff and pupils at Hollyfield Primary School.  I was glad to help with their ‘Community Cohesion’ remit and was impressed by the inquiring nature of their questions.”
